one more. . . .

watercolor card for Virginia's View:

Here is my card, which I made for a friend's birthday:

I do like to color stamped images with watercolor pencils, but one of my most favorite things to do is use distress inks spritzed with water to create a background.  Ripe persimmon, festive berries and peacock feathers distress inks were used here.  The image is an oldie but goodie from Stampers Anonymous and was stamped over the background with Versafine onyx black ink.  I placed an iridescent sequin with a small black gem in the circle on the bottom left.

A Sakura stardust pen was used on the body and wings of the dragonfly and I then sprayed the whole panel with Ranger's Heirloom gold spray.  This is so much prettier in real life - it is so gloomy here today that the photo doesn't show the shimmery goodness much at all!   A Pilot metallic gold pen was used to edge the panel which was popped up on the white card base with foam tape.

There has been an amazing response to Virginia's new challenge blog and we are allowed to enter four cards - this is my third and probably final one.  The entries are all SO fabulous and I am just sending my entries over in support of Virginia, not really with "winning" in mind.

Thanks, Virginia, for all of the fun!

another card. . . .

for Virginia's View challenge:

here is my card:

I smooshed distress inks onto a craft sheet and spritzed them with water and then pulled white cardstock through for the background.  Two Memory Box dies and sequins created the focal image.  The Anna Griffin embossing folder is new to me and I love all of the pretty designs in it.

A birthday greeting was stamped inside and this card was given to a friend this morning for her upcoming birthday.

Have a great evening!

virginia's view. . . .

is a new challenge being hosted by the super talented Virginia Lu on her Yes, Virginia blog.

Her first challenge is to use her inspiration photo for our guide plus add watercoloring.  Here is my card:

I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder that is a frame of flowers.  My Derwent inktense watercolor pencils were fun to use for coloring the flowers.  I then added some pearls and gems randomly to the centers.  The Hero Arts sentiment was heat embossed with my clear sparkle powder.  Then I used my Sakura glitter pen (in lieu of having a wink of Stella) to outline the raised edges of the flowers and frame.  The tiny Memory Box butterflies were also watercolored and then covered with the Sakura glitter pen.

Thanks, Virginia, for a fun new challenge!

Also sending this to Simon Says for their current challenge  which is anything goes with pearls.

february ccc. . . .

has been posted by Deborah and here is the card I sent to Loly in Alabama:

I sponged colors through the Hero Arts stencil and heat embossed the design with some clear sparkle embossing powder.  The sentiment is from PTI and the black sequins were on clearance at JoAnn's for 50 cents!

This card chain challenge is so much fun - go to Deborah's blog for all the information to join in for March.

More snow on the way for us - guess I will go into hibernation again.  :)

a pink owl. . . .

for my granddaughter, Miya's, birthday next week.  She still loves pink and I love this cute owl from Hero Arts:

The owl was stamped with Ranger raspberry distress ink.  I masked it off and stamped the tiny polka dot background (an old Hero Arts wood mount stamp) over it before die cutting it.  The patterned paper is from DCWV and I dry embossed it with a hearts folder.

A slightly different take on the angled look here, due to stamping the sentiment a bit off kilter.  I had in my mind to use googly eyes for the owl, but couldn't find my package of them anywhere in my studio!!  So, I made it more girly by just adding iridescent gems.  The sequin-like flowers are some ancient embellies from Hero Arts and I added a tiny gem to the centers.  I also used my Sakura sparkle pen on the owl's feathers, but it doesn't show in the photo.

Sending this to the Hero Arts birthday challenge (anything goes).

Enjoy your day!

flowers and butterflies. . . .

will be showing up on many of my cards now since it is almost the first of March.  Even though it was only 3 degrees here this morning, it is better to look forward to warmer weather than to dwell on the cold.  Here is a card I made for a friend's birthday this week:

This Hero Arts flower stamp is fun to color with Prismacolor pencils.  The sentiment is from A Muse Art Stamps.  I added some dots with Stickles diamond glitter and a die cut butterfly.

Sending this to:

Word Art Wednesday

Thanks for your visit!

for a friend. . . .

who is going through a rough time right now:

This is another SSS die I got for Christmas and I used the DCWV spring mix paper pad again.  The sentiment and black gems are from Hero Arts.  A butterfly punch from Martha Stewart.

Have a good weekend!
