two challenges

Good morning to all!

The challenge at Simon Says this week is to create a card for Mother's Day or for a special gal in our life.  For my daughter:

I am also entering this card in the Paper Crafts March 2012 Gallery challenge to use a "spectrum" of colors to make a card.

The heart punch is from EK Success, patterned papers from Basic Grey, sentiment from Hero Arts all year round sentiments.

Hope your day is fabulous!

BIRTHDAY CARD

Sorry I've been missing in action again.  Sometimes life takes over and my cardmaking comes to a standstill.  I don't know how so many of you gals keep up with all of the challenges, contests, blog posts and comments on such a regular basis!!  I do try to visit most of the blogs on my reader pretty often; please forgive me for not always commenting.

I digress.  My youngest grandaughter's birthday is coming up soon; she will be eight years old.  Here is the card I made for her:

She loves pink.  I used a new embossing folder from Bringing Crafts Too You - so cute!

Have a blessed day. . .

For Cath (sans CHA) with Love Blog Hop

Do you recognize this gal??  Cath Edvalson from Moxie Fab World is a very sweet blogger who keeps us in tune with all things new in the crafting world and shares great giveaways on a regular basis.  She usually attends CHA in Anaheim CA each year as part of the Paper Crafts Connection team.  Well, Cath has been suffering with shoulder pain for sometime now, and was unable to attend this year.

So,  Virginia Lu and others have organized a blog hop in Cath's honor for all of us to show her some love and support as she deals with this health issue.  I hope Cath will like the card I made for her:

And, I hope the doctors can evaluate this problem correctly and get her started on a treatment plan that will resolve it quickly!

Sending lots of hugs out to Cath! (You can go to Virginia's blog to see the participants in this hop.)

CFC37

This week at CFC we are to use a sketch for the challenge:

I altered is just a bit:

Hero Arts image and black pearls, Sizzix embossing folder, sentiment is one I have from a clear set.  The packaging is long gone and there is no marking on the backer sheet to tell me what company made it.  Lots of greetings, though, so I keep it around for when I might need to use one of them.  LOL

The pink paper that the image is layered to is from the Basic Grey 6 x 6 Kissing Booth pad.  Love the papers in this pad!

I am also posting this to the Simon Says challenge this week which is "anything goes".

Hope your day has been a good one so far!

Valentine Card Exchange

Anita Rex on the Hero Arts Flickr group organized a Valentine card exchange.  My card was sent to Cornelia and she has let me know that she received it.  So, here is the card:

I love this new Hero Arts newsprint bird!!!  I heat embossed it in red Brilliance ink and then added some tea dye distress ink over it to age it a bit.  The sentiment and small heart are from the new XO clear set and were heat embossed, too.  The papers are from the Basic Grey 6 x 6 Kissing Booth pad.  I used a scallop border die from My Favorite Things and the lace is from Hero Arts.  Also added a rhinestone eye and some Stickles diamond glitter.

Hope your day is fabulous!

OCTOBER CCC

Here is my card for this month's card challenge on Lily Pad Cards

I went with the friendship theme again just because I like receiving those kind the best.
These patterned papers, including the punched border which has a teeny dot in it, are from the Basic Grey Out of Print 6 x 6 pad.  I love this pad!  The butterfly is from the Hero Arts Butterflies and Print cling set. Sentiment is from Hero Arts, also.

The card pretty much speaks for itself, so no need to go into detail.

Thanks for visiting on this rainy evening!

FOOD AND DRINK CHALLENGE

Here is my card for Simon Says this week:

Pretty much self-explanatory - paper pieced and colored with colored pencils, cut with Spellbinders and layered to a doily and Basic Grey Hello Luscious paper.  The cupcake is from Impression Obsession and the sentiment is from A Muse.  A bit of Stickles glitter glue was added here to the frosting and bow and around the scallops of the die.

Sunny, warm and beautiful here in Ohio today!  Perfect weather for late summer.  Thanks for stopping by!

AUGUST CCC

For this month's card chain challenge (CCC) on The Lily Pad blog, we could used chocolate brown, lipstick red and aqua for the colors.  And, since I liked the sketch they provided, I decided to use it along with the friendship theme.  This is the first time I have used the sketch, colors and theme for my card:

The patterned paper I used for the background is from the HeroArts/Basic Grey Hello Luscious pad.  I trimmed it to layer on a cream card base and then added a strip of chocolate brown cardstock which was dry embossed with a polka dot folder.  The Hero Arts friend definition was stamped in brown on cream and the Prima flowers were fastened with a tiny aqua brad.

There's still time to participate; just upload a card by the 17th.  Check out Lily Pad Cards for the deets!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

HAVE A GREAT DAY

One of my favorite stamps from Hero Arts is this wreath, so I decided to make a card with it today.

I stamped it with black ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder, which I think makes it easier to color an image with a lot of details.  The coloring was done with Prismacolor pencils.  The sentiment was also heat embossed for a richer effect.

The patterned paper is from the Basic Grey Hello Luscious 6 x 6 pad.  A tiny butterfly was punched from the same paper.  Added a strip of black cardstock and some black pearls for accents.

Orange is not a color I work with very often, but I like the cheery look of this card.

Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps and Supplies used:

Hero Arts CL351

MASCULINE 50TH BIRTHDAY CARD

I have been missing in action for a couple of weeks - just busy with a lot of different things.  I am in awe of you gals who can keep up with a myriad of challenges, groups, design teams, making comments on blogs, etc., and actually making lots of cards and creating blog posts, too!

Anyway, here is a card I made for my son-in-law's 50th birthday which is coming up soon.

I used one of the sketches Shari provided on the Hero Arts blog and some strips of paper from the Basic Grey Hello Luscious pad.   And, for the background, I actually dared to cut the word "Celebrate" from a Hero Arts clear phrase to use alone, which was the first time I attempted that!  The number stamps are from an old Hero Arts set that I have had for ages.

I didn't want this card to become too fussy, so I just popped the circles up from the background layer, and then popped that layer up from the folded kraft card.  A bit of Stickles platinum glitter was added around the circle for a bit of bling.

Thank you for visiting!

Stamps and supplies used:

Hero Arts CL497 Find Joy
Basic Grey Hello Luscious 6 x 6 pad
Ranger Stickles platinum glitter

CARD PATTERNS SKETCH 108

Here is the sketch for this week on CARD PATTERNS:

And here is the card I made:

As you can see, I chose to turn the sketch a bit to my own liking.

The patterned paper is from the Basic Grey Hello Luscious pad that I got from Hero Arts.  The sentiment is from the Hero Arts CL497 Find Joy set.  I layered everything on a kraft card base and black cardstock.  The butterfly punch is from Martha Stewart.  I layered it on white cardstock and then used Ranger Stickles diamond glitter to fill in the open areas.  (This doesn't show up so well in the scan!)  A few black stitching lines were hand drawn along the black cardstock.

I'm still loving that paper pad from Basic Grey!!

SIMON SAYS HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHALLENGE

Last week on Kristina Werner's Finally Friday video, she used various lengths and widths of patterned papers to create her card.  Since I just got this fabulous 6 x 6 Basic Grey Hello Luscious paper pad, I wanted to do something similar with these gorgeous papers:

I also used the Hero Arts Life of the Party Dots which I clear embossed on the left side of the card.  The sentiment is from the Hip Hip Hurray cling set which I also clear embossed and then cut with a nestie label die and mounted on a rectangle of one of the pp's.  A strip of green grosgrain ribbon and some red gems were used for embellishments.

I really love the dots and these papers - may have to order another pad, soon!!!  I am also entering this in the Simon Says Happy Birthday Challenge and the Hero Arts monthly challenge.

Thanks for visiting!

CARD PATTERNS SKETCH 106

Here is my card for the current sketch on CARD PATTERNS:

The background papers are from the Basic Grey Hello Luscious Paper Pad.  The cupcake and sentiment are from the Hero Arts Hip Hip Hurray cling set (CL494).  Spellbinders Nestabilities scalloped circle die was used for the cupcake.

I colored the images with Prismacolor pencils, added a bit of Stickles glitter.  The flowers are from Prima and a tiny faux gem was added to the centers.

Love the new Basic Grey papers - turquoises, reds, greens - so pretty.

HERO ARTS $50 SHOPPING SPREE!

A couple of weeks ago, I was the winner of a $50 shopping spree just for commenting on the Hero Arts blog!  I was so excited to have won such a fabulous prize - Here is a picture of what I received today:

It is hard to see the two clings that I got, which are the Life of the Party Dots (CG298) and the Luscious Bold Flowers Set (CG303) - both are SO-O-O gorgeous!  These were two of the sets that were coordinated with Basic Grey, so I had to order the Hello Luscious Paper Pad (PS636).

The clear set is Hip Hip Hurray! (CL494) and the woodblock is the Ruffled Flower (S5482).  I couldn't make it come out to an even $50; so I did go over by $8.00, but I am truly a happy camper to have won such bounty!  Thanks so much to Hero Arts.

Now on to making cards!
