Just got some PTI polka dot stamps that I have been wanting for a LONG time. Decided to use them to make a card for the Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge which ends tonight at midnight. Seems I'm always bringing up the rear for most challenges!! Just been extra busy this past week and the upcoming one promises to be even more so. Here is the card I made:

With walnut stain distress ink, I stamped large polka dots on a torn book page and layered it to kraft cardstock along with a strip of old sheet music. Then I stamped a Tim Holtz image in pumice stone along the right side of the card and overstamped the sentiment with walnut stain. A Tim Holtz butterfly and some medium and small polka dots were heat embossed in gold. The tiny rickrack was stained with the walnut stain ink. I then layered the panel to dark brown cardstock and a kraft card.
Truth be told, this is my very favorite kind of card to create. Just don't have the time to play as much as I would like, I guess.

The challenge for Simon Says Stamp and Show for this week is handmade backgrounds.
Just getting this in under the wire since the challenge ends at midnight tonight. My background was made with distress inks, flicked with water and stamped with swirls. After stamping the images with archival ink, the white dots were added for more accent.

This week's challenge for Simon Says Stamp and Show is anything goes. Since the overall theme for this challenge blog is to use Tim Holtz/Wendy Vecchi type designs, all the stamps I used on this tag are from Stampers Anonymous/Tim Holtz.
The tag was distressed with tea dye, aged mahogany and walnut stain Distress inks. The background images were stamped using iced spruce, walnut stain and aged mahogany. I stamped the flowers and butterflies with barn door distress ink on another tag and edged with walnut stain. Then I cut them out and popped them up on the tag, adding some barn door Distress Stickles. A strip of raw silk was tied through the hole of the tag.

Tomorrow is the deadline for getting a card up for the February card chain challenge at Lily Pad Cards. There are always several choices for the theme of the card we choose to make. I chose the Valentine's Day theme:
I have a large stash of these flowers that I made from the Tim Holtz tattered floral dies. Cut them out of copy paper, colored them with distress inks, accented all edges with Stickles and layered them with a pearl in the center. Rather than a true red or true pink, the flower has a coral color to it. I like the way it looks against the paper heart doily. The dimensional flower was in the Simon Says Stamp January card kit. I was very pleased with the assortment of items included in the kit and am looking forward to getting future kits from them. Well worth the subscription price - check it out! Sentiment is from Hero Arts XO clear set.

I love the soft colors of this photo, so I die cut some Tim Holtz alterations tattered florals from cardstocks in those colors to make my card:
After die cutting the flowers, I stamped over them with Hero Arts old French writing and then distressed the edges with spun sugar and tea dye distress inks. Layered the different colors together with brads in the middle. The sentiment is a new clear set from Hero Arts.

This week's challenge for Simon Says is to make a Halloween or Goth card.
I don't send Halloween cards often, but I recently ordered the So Scary cling set from Hero Arts when it was the stamp of the week. For this card, I cut a piece of white cardstock and made a mask for the moon with a punched circle. Then I colored the whole piece with distress inks (wild honey, spiced marmalade, rusty hinge and walnut stain). I used the Tim Holtz distressing tool to rough up the edges and went back over them with walnut stain. Flicked some water (maybe too much!) over the whole piece. All images were stamped with Versafine black ink and then I added glitter to the tree and the bats. I used a Magenta stamp to "ground" the tree. Black pearls are from Hero Arts, also.

The Crafts Meow is the sponsor of a challenge on the Lily Pad Cards blog. We are to use embossing (dry or heat, or both) for the card. Here is my card:
I used an embossing folder from Darice and a small flower punch for the dry embossed background. The Hero Arts butterfly was white embossed on Tim Holtz patterned paper (the same paper was used to punch the flowers). The Hero Arts sentiment was stamped with Broken China distress ink, which was also sponged around the sentiment and the background layer. For embellishment, I added a few turquoise gems for a bit of bling.
The embedded embossing is fun and I love the results.

A card that I sent in about six months ago was published in the Spring 2011 issue of Just Cards:
All of the stamps used on this card are from Hero Arts. A dark brown ink was used to stamp the images on Tim Holtz patterned paper. Embellishments: Two punched butterflies, accented with gems, from Martha Stewart, brown ribbon and a Prima flower with gem.
Everything was layered to a folded dark brown card.
