PDCC #79

Lime green, red and gray are certainly not my go to  colors for cardmaking.  Here is the challenge photo for Play Date Cafe:

My card features stamps from Hero Arts.

The fabric background stamp and the sentiment were stamped with Ranger Adirondack slate ink.  I heat embossed the flowers and added red gems to the centers.  The lace accents are from Hero Arts also.  A nestabilities die was mounted on red cardstock, which is brighter IRL than in this scan.

This was indeed a challenge, but a lot of fun.

HAVE A GREAT DAY

One of my favorite stamps from Hero Arts is this wreath, so I decided to make a card with it today.

I stamped it with black ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder, which I think makes it easier to color an image with a lot of details.  The coloring was done with Prismacolor pencils.  The sentiment was also heat embossed for a richer effect.

The patterned paper is from the Basic Grey Hello Luscious 6 x 6 pad.  A tiny butterfly was punched from the same paper.  Added a strip of black cardstock and some black pearls for accents.

Orange is not a color I work with very often, but I like the cheery look of this card.

Thanks for stopping by!

FRIENDSHIP CARD

Lisa's "make it and mail it" challenge must have sparked some card-making energy back into me.  Yesterday I was looking through some patterned paper pads and decided to use this pinky-plum paisley Basic Grey Eva paper to make a simple card to send out to another friend of mine.

A large scallop nestabilitie die was used for the Hero Arts sentiment, which was stamped with Adirondack wild plum ink.  The die cut itself was edged with the same ink and three gems added (they are a pale lilac in color).  I love this particular piece of lace from Hero Arts the best - the width is such a nice size, isn't it?

Will be mailing this one out today - hope she likes it!

HERO ARTS EASTER/SPRING CARD SWAP

One of the Hero Arts hostesses, Anita, organized a card swap this month.  My card was sent to Suze in the UK and I've just heard from her that she received it, so will post it now.

The card size is approx. 6 x 4 inches.  The image was colored with prismacolor pencils and then overstamped with the envelope pattern background stamp.  The sentiment is an old Hero Arts wood mounted stamp.  Some rusty hinge and wild honey distress inks were used along the edges.  A tiny bit of glitter was added here and there.

These swaps are so much fun - thanks, Anita!

MAKE IT AND MAIL IT

Lisa Spangler's challenge is to make a card and actually mail it to someone.  So many of us make a lot of cards for challenges that we don't actually send out.  This one will be sent to a dear friend; we always find something to giggle about when we get together.

The patterned paper used here is from a DCWV pack called Street Lace - I love the blacks, pinks and aquas that are in this particular pad.  The flowers were white embossed on various cardstocks and white opal liquid pearls dot the centers.  The sentiment is from an older Hero Arts set and the lace is Hero Arts, too.

Check out Lisa's blog - she will randomly pick a name from the participants who will receive a card from her!  Love her style...

MASCULINE 50TH BIRTHDAY CARD

I have been missing in action for a couple of weeks - just busy with a lot of different things.  I am in awe of you gals who can keep up with a myriad of challenges, groups, design teams, making comments on blogs, etc., and actually making lots of cards and creating blog posts, too!

Anyway, here is a card I made for my son-in-law's 50th birthday which is coming up soon.

I used one of the sketches Shari provided on the Hero Arts blog and some strips of paper from the Basic Grey Hello Luscious pad.   And, for the background, I actually dared to cut the word "Celebrate" from a Hero Arts clear phrase to use alone, which was the first time I attempted that!  The number stamps are from an old Hero Arts set that I have had for ages.

I didn't want this card to become too fussy, so I just popped the circles up from the background layer, and then popped that layer up from the folded kraft card.  A bit of Stickles platinum glitter was added around the circle for a bit of bling.

Thank you for visiting!

FRESH INSPIRATION FRIDAY

Hero Arts provided a photo as inspiration to make a card, just for fun:

Here is the card I made:

The background of this card is actually a two-toned brown patterned paper, which does not show up so well in the photo!  I love the ruffled flowers (Hero Arts CG291), which remind me of the soft curves of the sofa's frame.  They are white embossed with Hero Arts pearls for centers.  The sentiment is Hero Arts CL497. The brown layer was  mounted on a white card, which was distressed around the edges with walnut stain distress ink.

Thanks for visiting!

MASCULINE CARD

One of the themes for the April Hero Arts challenge is to make masculine cards.  Here is a card I made:

Pretty much a one layer card, except for the small accent strip along the bottom.  The background was created on white cardstock using distress inks - scattered straw, tea dye, wild honey, rusty hinge and walnut stain.  The leaf clusters and sentiment were stamped in brown ink.  The pp strip was cut from one of the striped papers in the Hello Luscious paper pad.  I added some "dew drops" to a few of the leaves and around the image using glossy accents.

JUST CARDS VOLUME 21

A card that I sent in about six months ago was published in the Spring 2011 issue of Just Cards:

All of the stamps used on this card are from Hero Arts.  A dark brown ink was used to stamp the images on Tim Holtz patterned paper.  Embellishments:  Two punched butterflies, accented with gems, from Martha Stewart, brown ribbon and a Prima flower with gem.

Everything was layered to a folded dark brown card.
