this week's sketch. . . .

at MFT was the perfect sketch challenge for me.  Why??  My Big Shot died.  Well, let's just say I killed it.  It is a long story, but somehow I did manage to put it out of commission.  A replacement is on its way, but meanwhile I could not use it to make any cards.

This sketch was easy enough to manually cut the angled shape of the sketch. The SSS sentiment was heat embossed on a Jillibean Soup doily to create a circle shape.  The papers and stamped snowflakes are from the SSS January card kit.  I stamped a few of the tiny snowflakes on the patterned paper using the white ink pad included in the kit.  And, the purple snowflakes were stamped using Brilliance Victorian Violet ink.  This is my first attempt to use Karen Dunbrook's technique of using a rubber mallet to selectively or randomly dry emboss a design into cardstock.  (upper left corner)  What fun!  And, my rubber mallet only cost $1.49.

Also sending this to the following challenges:

Here's to a brand new year - wishing each one of you the best of everything throughout 2015!

You are so funny, Joy! I've come pretty close to killing mine, too! I'm glad you have a new one on the way, but you certainly can make a fantastic card without it. A rubber mallet? I missed that post of Karen's so I will be checking it out thanks to your cool card!! Happy New Year!! Hugs, Darnell

Way to create WITHOUT a Big Shot! Takes us back a few years huh? :) I also broke mine a few months ago. DH literally took every screw out to get the stuck die I had in it out. All I could do was laugh when I saw ALL THE PIECES on the ground~ I got back my die though! :)
